ABOUT US

The reason behind Whittle and S'more Forest School
My eldest son has complex needs and when a move from Wales to Wiltshire with the military meant a hold in his education, we had to source alternative provision for a few months. Alongside time at a therapeutic care farm, he attended 1-1 Forest School sessions. Over time I saw a huge difference in his capabilities and well-being and this sparked my curiosity in Forest School before beginning my training as a Forest School Leader with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust in 2021.
During my training, we spoke briefly about foraging and mycology and overtime I realised how much more nature has to offer us. I fell in love with medicinal herbs and the purpose and uses of foraging. Overtime I have noticed how spending so much time outdoors has personally helped improve my long history of difficulties with my mental health and anxiety.
I have fifteen years experience as a primary school teacher working across different year groups, schools, SEN schools, childcare facilities and local authority sections. With my new found passion and knowledge of the outdoors and nature alongside my personal journey of well-being improvement, I now have a wealth of knowledge and experience that I feel needs sharing with others.
